band ligation endoscopy

Sometimes people get sick veins, and sick veins can cause big problems. These vessels can swell to a larger size and rupture as they can prove to be very unhealthy or painful for the patient. Now, doctors have discovered a new way to treat these diseased vessels and the new technique.

Previously, if someone had large veins that were creating issues, doctors were required to perform major operations. These were scary and painful surgeries. That caused patients to spend long periods of time in the hospital and take many days to recover. But today doctors have a much better tool in their toolbox to assist.

Minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery

This is a new technique called band ligation endoscopy. It sounds like a fancy word, but it is a very simple and safe technique to heal sick veins. Here’s how it works: The doctor uses a tiny camera on the end of a soft tube. This tiny tube can slide into any person's throat safely.

In the tube going into the throat, the physician can actually see where the big veins are. Next, the doctor places a small rubber band around these inflected veins. It is a tiny rubber band that hardly seeing it! This small band cut off the blood supply to the diseased veins. The as they get smaller and smaller and eventually fall off.
